Top Seven Weddings Trends For 2022

After all the uncertainty that 2021 provided in terms of planning weddings, we have everything crossed and everyone jabbed that wants to be so that 2022 can be a little more smooth sailing to say I do!

So to get 2022 wedding planning officially started, here are the First Class Functions teams top wedding trends for 2022…drumroll….

Social Streaming

While 2021 forced us to look to streaming to make sure everyone can be included, 2022 will see this become a standard wedding ceremony. More couples are choosing this as it can be done easily via your own laptop and skype or on a more professional level with multi cameras and lapel microphones. The visual quality is so amazing that guests will genuinely feel like they are there with you. The only thing that hasn’t improved with time – is dealing with time zones 🙂

Fur Babies

Yes these little family members are becoming more and more at the forefront of weddings. They add a fun touch at a ceremony and can help you calm your nerves. Talk to your florist about some super cute floral collars and always check first if your venue allows animals.

First Looks

While these waned in popularity a little over the past few years they are back with a bang! First looks are generally done before the ceremony with couples having a photographer with them to capture the moment. However, due to Covid border restrictions, they have also become popular with immediate family and close friends who can’t attend your wedding day. Just make sure you have lots of tissues on hand.

Orchid Bouquets

These stunning little guys are still having their moment. While 2019 and 2020 had a trend towards white long-stemmed roses with no greenery, phalaenopsis orchids were definitely the most requested bouquet for the latter half of 2020 and into 2021. With planning, you can get them dyed in just about any colour. They are sophisticated, classic and so darn gorgeous that we can’t get enough of them here.

Bridal Jackets and Capes

All of us at FCF are loving this look! Use any excuse to get your hands on one of these. Whether you go with a slogan on the back or keep it simple, Bridal jackets take it up a notch than wearing your new hubby’s suit jacket later in the night.

Multi Sensory Weddings

More and more couples want to bring in all the senses to their weddings and as a result well, thought out elements of your wedding that combine taste, smell, touch and feel are becoming more and more popular. Some of the best ways we have seen this incorporated is a couples special cocktail to drink on the night, followed by guest gifts (bonbonierre) of a small bottle of the spirit made locally along with a recipe card for the cocktail. Think a Noosa Sling with a mini bottle of Pomona Gin Distillery gin. Cute, memorable and personal.

Dramatic colour palettes

Loving these vibes of romantic soft pale pinks mixed with dramatic modern blacks. Pale pink and nude roses and orchids with black candles and foliage, complemented with golds and natural fibres, give such a contrast to a white dress or light-coloured suit. Work with your florist and stylist to ensure the look is still soft and pretty. Perfect for a winter wedding reception.

No matter what trends are around, the best weddings are always the ones that are authentic to you and your partner. Explain your vision to your stylist and they will make sure that it captures everything you want it to be.
